Right in the heart of Bothell Washington, a group of eight Pop-Shops are bringing women and minority small business dreams to life. Built by The Original Mini Barns, these sheds are more than just retail spaces, they’re a living, breathing example of how one small business can uplift many. “We’re a small business that’s all about supporting other small businesses,” says Tony Curran, co-owner of The Original Mini Barns, “These shops give entrepreneurs the chance to shine in a high-traffic area, without the overhead cost of a traditional storefront.”
Bothell’s eight pop-up shops act as incubators for women and minority owned small businesses, offering turnkey spaces and educational support to help them grow and connect with customers. The Pop-Shops also host monthly pop-shop markets, drawing in locals, and tourists with handmade goods, art, apparel, and more. It’s a rotating showcase of local talent and our Forester style shops provide the perfect backdrop for it.
In 2021 the City of Bothell launched their Pop Shops Incubator Program, with the intention of helping women and minority small businesses grow and succeed. We had the privilege of partnering with them in 2021 to build the first four Pop-Shops and partnered with them again in 2025 to build four more. The city is currently in the final stages of selecting four new entrepreneurs to establish their business in the community, while also adding a food truck pad and ensuring full ADA accessibility.
We take great pride in being able to be involved with this program. Next time you take a stroll down Main Street, stop by the Pop-Shops. You might discover your new favorite local product or the perfect gift for someone special.
