At The Original Mini Barns, we’re known for crafting high-quality, weather-resistant structures built to last a lifetime and for the first time ever, we’ve taken that expertise into the world of greenhouses. When J Szabos Collaborative reached out to us about building a greenhouse, we were excited to take it on, as this would be our first greenhouse project. J Szabos Collaborative is a trusted landscaping company we’ve partnered with over the past few years to collaborate on projects.
The greenhouse is a 12W x 14D Rancher-style mini barn, featuring multi-wall polycarbonate roofing, eight sets of 18”x48” single-hung windows, and our standard 36” shed door with a transom window. Polycarbonate roofing is a strong, lightweight thermoplastic that withstands fluctuating temperatures, making it ideal for roofing in greenhouses. The design was unique and a fun challenge for our team.
After our initial conversations with J Szabos Collaborative and the client, we started on the design process. We used SketchUp to create a detailed mockup of the greenhouse, which helped fine tune the design and lock in the details. After the design was finalized, we moved forward with bringing this greenhouse to life, while J Szabos Collaborative simultaneously began landscaping. We had a blast exploring this new realm of mini barns and expanding our expertise and knowledge.
This project marks an exciting new chapter for The Original Mini Barns. As our first-ever greenhouse, it showcases what happens when custom craftsmanship meets sustainable design. Looking to grow something of your own? Whether it’s a greenhouse, garden studio, or creative space, we’re here to bring your vision to life, built to last, and made just for you.
